Move over, Max, Bella and Charlie — today’s dog owners are looking for names that go a bit outside of the norm.
For proof, just turn to New York City. The Big Apple’s health department recently released the names of every single dog registered in Manhattan and turned the data into quite an eye-catching chart:
Searching for specific names, or just scrolling over the countless dots, reveals the popularity of a given name; the bigger the dot, the more popular it is.
Instead of checking out the most common names, we wondered: What are the more unusual dog names on the list?
As it turns out NYC dog owners are quite inspired by food, drinks and pop culture.
Below, we rounded up names by category, followed by how many dogs in NYC have said name.
